What is answer engine optimization?

Answer engine optimization, or AEO, makes useful website information easier for search and AI systems to understand and retrieve. It builds on good SEO by answering real questions clearly, organizing pages well, showing evidence, and keeping important facts consistent. It does not replace SEO, firsthand experience, or the need to help the person reading the page.

What we believe

How Tailored Approach sees it.

Website authority is the online version of owner experience. AI can help organize and improve content, but it lacks the firsthand knowledge that makes an answer worth trusting. If AI assists the work, the owner still needs to provide the direction, examples, photographs, and judgment. Letting AI run the show quickly turns the website into a circus.

The answer must be useful before it can be answer-ready.

AEO is not a license to fill pages with generic questions or repeat a keyword in every heading. Begin with the decision a real buyer is trying to make. State the answer early, explain its boundaries, support important claims, and give the reader a useful next step.

Search systems still need accessible HTML, descriptive titles, crawlable links, stable URLs, and coherent site architecture. Clear passages help retrieval, but technical access and earned trust remain part of the foundation.

Structure helps machines because it also helps people.

Use one descriptive main heading, meaningful subheadings, short direct definitions, and lists only when the information is genuinely sequential or comparative. Connect related service, location, proof, and explanatory pages with links that describe where they lead.

  • Answer the primary question in the first useful paragraph.
  • Name assumptions, risks, geography, dates, and exceptions when they change the answer.
  • Cite original or authoritative sources for facts the business does not own.
  • Use structured data that matches visible content; markup does not create authority by itself.

Measure visibility without pretending attribution is perfect.

Track indexed coverage, relevant impressions, landing-page engagement, branded demand, citations available in search tools, and qualified actions. Bing now exposes AI citation and grounding information in Webmaster Tools, while other answer surfaces may provide less direct reporting.

Review passages over time for accuracy, freshness, and overlap. Become a dependable source on the problems the business can actually solve. Do not manufacture hundreds of shallow answers for every wording of a query.
